KBShimmer Look on the Bright Side Neon collection Polish Con BeautyJudy swatches review

Show of well-manicured hands: Who had a Trapper Keeper?!

Anyone collect charms on those plastic charm necklaces and bracelets?! (You know what I mean, if you lived in the 80s!)

Did you collect Garbage Pail Kid cards?!

Who is dying over this beautiful, 6-piece neon collection from KBShimmer called Look on the Bright Side?!

If you were a child of the late 80s and/or early 90s, the first three thing may have you reminiscing, but I think ALL of us can agree on craving these bright, crelly-creme nail polishes!

And guess what? You can get ’em first at PolishCon NYC April 29! If you aren’t attending PolishCon, have no fear! They will launch on KBShimmer.com, Amazon.com and select salons and retailers on May 5!

Let’s jump into this total rad collection!

All the Bright Moves

KBShimmer All the Bright Moves Look on the Bright Side Neon collection Polish Con BeautyJudy swatches review

All the Bright Moves is a highlighter-yellow polish that glows under black light. I’m putting this one first because this was really the only “problem child” of the bunch, a little thicker and patchier on first coat and second coat seemed a little sketchy but – it all leveled out. I mean, we all know what a pain yellows can be to apply. The important thing is, it levels. So don’t worry! Shown in two nearly opaque coats, it reminds me of playing tennis in 6th grade – what tennis balls looked like, fresh out of the canister!

Double Pog Dare You

KBShimmer Double Pog Dare You Look on the Bright Side Neon collection Polish Con BeautyJudy swatches review

Double Pog Dare You is an ode to two different trends from back in the day: Pog and Double Dare. I didn’t play Pog and have no recollection what it is, but Double Dare? I wanted to be on that show SO BAD. My mom was going to take the kids I played with across the street and I to try out, but for whatever grown-up, annoying reason, it didn’t work out. I just thought the course at the end – the gigantic sundae – all of it was amazing. Sigh. This beautiful sky blue neon is shown in two coats and it’s opaque that way for me.

Color Me Rad

Color Me Rad is quite possibly the hardest one for me to photograph, which is funny, because it’s usually the purples! This hot hot hot watermelon pink is probably a touch pinker than my pic suggests. I used two coats and there’s very, very little visible nail line at this coverage. This one also glows under black light! Also, I can’t get Color me Badd out of my head now.

Please Don’t Glow Girl

KBShimmer Please Don't Glow Girl Look on the Bright Side Neon collection Polish Con BeautyJudy swatches review

Please Don’t Glow Girl is a traffic safety cone orange neon that is opaque in two coats (shown here) and a spin of one of my favorite boy band songs growing up! I remember praying one night before bed that I win tickets to the New Kids on the Block concert on the radio because my life’s dream was to meet Joey McIntyre. Didn’t work out, but many years later, as a 30-something, I went to an NKOTB concert and when they ran by my row, I got to touch Joey, Donnie and Danny. Life. Complete. I DID end up washing my hand but I’ll never forget that night, lol! Oh and PS – this one glows under black light too!

Race Against Slime

Race Against Slime is like a super bright neon green version of my favorite drink in childhood – Ecto Cooler. I believe Hi-C made it. It was epic. Shown here in two coats, Race was opaque for me in two coats. This one glows under black light, too!

Let’s Be Frank

KBShimmer Let's Be Frank Look on the Bright Side Neon collection Polish Con BeautyJudy swatches review

Let’s Be Frank is an electric violet neon purple that is inspired by Christy from KBShimmer’s love of all things Lisa Frank. Is there a child of the 80s/90s that did NOT love Lisa Frank?! For me this polish is opaque in two coats.

All of this reminiscing makes me wonder what my daughter is going to reflect on when she’s older. I don’t know if it will be as epic as my memories of jelly shoes, snap bracelets (the ones that were pulled because they cut you open), neon everything, 80s pop, big hair…there’s just so much!

All of these polishes applied well and for me and my short-to-active length nails, they were all good in two coats. The only polish that was a bit tricky was All the Bright Moves, but it self-leveled. I would recommend thin coats, and possibly three vs. two.

So who’s going to PolishCon NYC? Are these on your shopping list?! If you’re not going – are you going to pick these up when they go live online? If no, no no…then tell me what your favorite 80s trend was – I want to know!
